Registration for the first IKOUĒ Academy 2024 cohort

Since October 2023, IKOUĒ has been running free training sessions open to everyone.

Thanks to our partnership with the Institut Pasteur de Bangui, these Saturday sessions have welcomed more than 500 people with varied backgrounds and one thing in common: a desire to learn.

Our training aims to democratize access to knowledge and to reduce the digital divide in the Central African Republic. Every session is an opportunity for participants to discover new skills, to sharpen their abilities across different areas of computing, and to exchange with experienced professionals. We firmly believe that education is a lever for personal and professional development, which is why we do everything we can to make this training accessible to all, regardless of their skill level or economic situation.

However, these lecture-hall style sessions did not allow us to combine practice and theory. The content was therefore adapted to be as digestible as possible for the audience.

With the recent partnership with the Office National de l’Informatique (ONI), we can finally activate the next phase of the training: practice.

Indeed, the logistical limitations of the lecture-hall sessions made it difficult to directly apply theoretical concepts. Now, with access to an equipped room, each participant will be able to work on concrete projects and benefit from personalized guidance. This hands-on approach is essential to strengthen the understanding and mastery of technical skills, preparing our learners to meet the challenges of the job market.

First IKOUĒ Academy cohort

The first room available to us within the ONI has a limited capacity of 20 computers. For this reason, access to our very first cohort will be by selection, with limited places.

We want to offer high-quality training tailored to the specific needs of each participant. The selection will unfold as follows:

  1. until the end of June, candidates are invited to take part in our admission test.
  2. next, a short 10-minute interview will be held for each candidate who has passed the test. This assessment will help us better understand each candidate’s expectations and motivations, ensuring that those who join our program are genuinely committed and ready to fully invest themselves.
  3. the start of the advanced training is planned for July, and will run over 6 months at a pace of one to two sessions per week.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge in software development for business. At the end of the training, a certificate will be issued to everyone who completes the curriculum.

General training

Our general Saturday training sessions, open to everyone, at the Institut Pasteur will be maintained but with a less regular frequency (1 to 2 times per month). The training topics will be communicated as usual across our various communication channels.

We hope that in the near future, with more equipped rooms available, we will be able to run hands-on workshops open to everyone. This reduction in frequency will let us focus our efforts on the quality and relevance of the content offered, while continuing to meet the needs of our community. We remain committed to offering accessible and diverse learning opportunities, and we are constantly working to improve our infrastructure and our teaching methods.

Conclusion

We are happy to be able to activate this new stage of the IKOUĒ Academy program and enable all the selected candidates to improve their knowledge and access more employment opportunities.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the development of digital skills in the Central African Republic and to contributing to the economic growth of our region. By offering quality training for free, we aim to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of individuals and on the community as a whole. We believe that every learner has the potential to become a key player in the technological development of our country, and we look forward to seeing the future successes of our graduates.

Join us in this adventure and take part in the digital transformation of our society.
